Unleash the Power In You

2 min read

God is able to do far more than we could ever ask for or imagine. He does everything by his power that is working in us. Give him glory in the church and in Christ Jesus. Give him glory through all time and forever and ever. Amen.”

Ephesians 3:20-21 (NIRV)

I’ve read this verse in one version or another so many times. I’ve always acknowledged God’s amazing power and have counted on the fact that he can do more than I can imagine. God can do everything we can ask or think of, with his power working in us. Don’t miss those last two words “in us.” Those two words blew me away. I’d never seen the words “in us” or “within us” before.  This may be old news to you, but this exceedingly and abundantly jazzes me!

Yes, God is Almighty, immeasurable, all-powerful, full of grace and love. But he uses us. The Holy Spirit is living in us, and we have that power available to share the gospel, show hospitality, or pray for others. It is his power in us that brings glory to him. It is his power in us that allows us to share the gospel and witness a broken person experience the joy, peace, and grace that we felt when we believed in Jesus and unloaded our sin into his loving arms.

He uses the child who has accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord who fearlessly shares the gospel on the playground. He uses the mom who makes a meal for her neighbor who is going through breast cancer. He works through the man who shows up with a chainsaw when a tree falls through a neighbor’s roof and selflessly shows Christ’s love. He uses that grandma who faithfully prays for her kids and grandkids each morning. God uses a divorced woman to write about treasures found in Scripture and the unbelievable faithfulness of God.

You and I can experience that power within us and see firsthand that the Holy Spirit works through us to bring glory to God. His power is at work in us!

This motivates me to serve him, speak about him, and show his love to others. I want to be there when his power is shown through a changed life or through someone who comes to know and love Jesus for the first time.

Will you let God unleash the power in you today?

“I now serve the good news because God gave me his grace. His power is at work in me. I am by far the least important of all the Lord’s holy people. But he gave me the grace to preach to the Gentiles about the unlimited riches that Christ gives.”

Ephesians 3:7-8 NIRV
