Finding Joy in the Desert: A Journey of Faith

I remember the first time I found myself in that place—not a physical desert, but a season of life when everything seemed to slip away. My marriage was falling apart. The church I once cherished was suddenly gone. Friendships were broken, and dreams were shattered. I felt so lost. Each new day brought fear, pain, and very few answers. I didn’t know what to do, so I did nothing. I woke up each morning weighed down by disorientation and was unsure which way to go. I moved through each day blindly, working and caring for my children.

For some reason, I only talked to God about what was going on. I think I was embarrassed, protective of my children, and definitely in denial. I regret not sharing my desert with my sisters and a counselor. But God carried me through the unbearably desolate, tough, and unwanted desert. I learned to pray during this time, trust Him, rely on Him, and love Him more deeply. God was enough—more than enough. I may not have received everything I wanted, but He supplied all I needed.

Philippians 4:19 (NIV): “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

As I look back on that first desert experience, I know He was there with me every day, every step. He heard every cry and helped me through it. Isn’t it amazing how, in our darkest moments, we can find a flicker of light? It’s like stumbling upon a hidden oasis in the middle of a vast, dry landscape.

Whatever you are going through today, you are not alone. He is right there beside you, ready to meet your needs as you rely on Him. But I encourage you to reach out to another Godly woman that can travel through this season with you.

As we navigate our deserts together, let’s remember that we are not alone. We have each other and, most importantly, we have God. He is our guide, our comfort, and our strength. So, let’s lean into Him, share our stories, and support one another. Together, we can find encouragement, laughter, and a sense of belonging in this oasis of joy.
